Know all men by these presents, that we
John Taylor, at present of the city of Raleigh,
John Hunt of the county of Franklin, John
Mebane of the county of Chatham, William
Lytle of the county of Orange, and Jame Pat-
-terson also of the county of Chatham, are held
and firmly bound to the trustees of the uni-
-versity of North Carolina in the sum of two
thousand pounds current money of the said
state; to which payment well and truly to
be made we bind ourselves, and each of us,
our heirs, executors, & administrators, jointly &
severally firmly by these presents, signed with
our hands, sealed with our seals, and dated
this sixteenth day of November in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
ninety four

The condition of the above obligation
is such that whereas the above boundes
John Taylor was by vote of the trustees of this
university of North Carolina on the twelth day
of the present month appointed steward of
the university for the term of five years com-
