by my first husband J G Watler I had a Child
that Child is dead and I have never been a well
woman since the birth of the child it
has left me in a weekly situation and I am
not able to do any thing for a living which
can be proved by the Doctors here in
Washington. I understand by lawyer [illegible]
that the University claims the whole that
I cannot even claim my dowery on it I think
it is very hard after I have married a man
at that he had become a Citizen by law
and which law says that when an Alien declares
is intention of becoming a Citizen of the
United states and if he should die before
his admission his Widow and Children
are Citizens but it was not so with
my husband he was lawfully Naturalized
here in this Court house in Washington
I think it hard to be turned out of house
and home after what little money I
had of my own as been spent on this
same house and after my present husband
has paid several hundred dollars which
was due on it and also spent all he
had to make improvements there
If I am to loose this property I must
be left pennyless I do not know what will
become of me this property is all I have
to depend upon for a living
