From Isaac, who is now here, on his return from
Chapel Hill, I learn that our relations below were
generally well, though when he left the Falls
some of the negroes were quite sick with bowel
disorders, which were prevalent down there. Dos-
[?] was a little indisposed from the same
cause -

I am now attending on the Supreme courts,
and shall be here for two or three weeks, though
I cannot conjecture at present the precise time
when I shall be able to get away. It is said here
that it wil not be a very long session - Mr
Devereux started for the springs yesterday, and
has left me in charge of our whole business
this term, and that together with our Digest
will leave me with little idle bread to [eat?]
the balance of the years – But why should a
poor sinner like I am, with a wife and five
or six children, to support talk about idle
bread. I may well thank my stars, if I can
get any bread at all even under the [curse?]

of a run does Dick make at Warmenton? Do
people wonder that so pretty a boy should drink
the milk of life from the bosom of so ugly a mother?
