{Mary H Walker} Warrenton February 16.1842

My dearest and best beloved friend I received your last letter last Monday and was truly delighted to hear your health was so good, but you did not mention one word about your coming in this way I do hope and trust you have not given out the idea of coming for I was never so much delighted in my life as I was thinking I should see you so soon, I have been in this place a week left all week at Mr Goods, and found all glad to see me in Warrenton I shall go to Louisburg in a very few days and shall stay some time I expect so please the next letter you write after you receive this direct to that place and when I leave Louisburg I will let you know before [?] so you may direct to Warrenton again, I found your Brother William confined to the house with rheumatism he has been very ill but is in a fair way to be well again soon he told me when he was so sick he determined as soon as he grew better to go to St. Louis to see you but since his health has gotten better he has given it out I begged him hard to come but can't succeed he says if he should come to the conclusion again little Sue and myself are to come with him, but dont look for us, I can assure you of one thing that nothing would give me more pleasure than

coming to see you [ ] but half so much accept seeing you in Carolina. My [Nany?] asked a great deal after you all and said I must be sure to send her love to you and in fact every one in this place asks after you and sends their love. Mrs [ ] is very sick but is much better, Mrs Johnson is very unwell indeed but all the rest are well. I am at John Whites at this time Link and him say tthey should be very much pleased to have you & M [ ]- for neighbors I suppose you have heard that Bet Fiels & [ ] have parted she is at [ ] and is very [ ] I was there yesterday [Rosa?] is very delicate as she is [ ] [ ] I received a very long letter from Sheppard last week he was very well and spoke in the kindest terms of you [ ] [ ] and our dear darling Shep say he perhaps will come by to see you this spring an his [ ] to Virginia he complains greatly of the Mr. [ ] not writing to him [ ] he should never hear from you all if i did not write to him about you all, and always tell him how you are Cousin Nat Martin & his wife have [ ] religion and joined the Episcapal Church in a few weeks and in fact their has been great revivals in all the Churches and I hope the revivals will continue until every [soul?] [ ] [ ] Christians all of your relations are well and doing well, and now my dearest love write to me and say whenyou think you will come for I cannot do much longer without seeing you and my dear darling child and Mr Cab for I can truly say I never in all my life wanted to see any persons half so much as I do you three for I have tried this

world a good deal and have never that I could love like I do expect to love any others like my health has not been so last i have had a pain in and took [ ] I try to be more careful of my health than I used to be for I could not be in [ ] reconciled to die before I could see you and my precious darling Shep I may live some years but i dont think so for I have for several years thought that when [ ] a change of life took place I should have the consumtion for if I miss one or two days it gives me pain in my side which i never had before, but I am in [ ] good health at this time but assured of one thing if I find my health bad so I cant [ ] better again I shall insist on you coming to see me and I have the faith to believe that Mr Cab will bring you for it would be a matter of most importance to me than any other earthly thing. Well I must stop after begging you to give my love to all that care for me,and to Mr. Cab any how kiss my darling Shepperd and tell him how much I love him and for yourself except the love and affection of one that shall [ ] love you as few daughters have been loved bless you my darling love farewell may the Lord bless and save you all in the [ ] Mary [ ] Walker

[ Woodley?] Feb 1st 1842 As you will not answer my letter until I write to you again and as I am so exceedingly anxious to get a letter from you I will write one more. I am going home Easter and Mr. and Mrs Turner and few of the children are goingwith me and I wish that you and Uncle would meet us there and spend the weeks vacation with us as I know that Mrs Turner is well as myself would be very much pleased to see you. I began this session to study Newmans Rehetoric, I like it very much I think it is very interesting. I presume you heard of my visit down the country during my vacation and I assure you that I was highly delighted Mrs Clark made me promise to call her Aunt. We have to write compositions every week and then write them in a book to be read out at the examination. Mrs Turner expects to go on to washington in the course of the two or three weeks to see her parents, as her younger sister has been quite sick.Cousin Mary Eliza and Patty send their love to youand uncle and cousin Mary Eliza says she is going to write to you before very long. Youmust excuse this miserable [ ] as the children are [ ] such a noise in the room and they shake me so much that I can hardly form two letters alike.Mrs. Turner has a beautiful green house with a great many pretty flowers.
