Warrenton, July 28th 1843 My Dear Battle, I received with great pleasure last evening yours of the 24th [Just?]; You did not err in suposing that I desired to hear from you in your new home, on the contrary I had avowed to Eliza & Miss Nancey my intention in a very few days to write to Lucy that I might hear from her all aboutnher house & neighbors and how on the whole she was pleased
I have no doubt that you have done wisely in selecting your place of residence, I think so on every account, that you will save money I have no doubt and I think you have a [?] society for your children as well as for yourselves , certainly the society of Raleigh is as good as one so long can [?] be, but you will find if I mistake but mere cordiality among the citizens of the Hill in their intercourse with each other. I have always found it so.
