I can tell you I never saw much before I reached this city, it is indescribable-Tell Maggie we never had to open the blankets & quilts nor suffered with the cold at all.

I would give any thing for a look in upon you all write soon & tell me all about your Xmas I do not feel as if there had been any Xmas-My love & good bye to all my friends I did not see & ask my kin folks to write to me.- I wish I had some of you all to sleep in this strange house with me tonight Rebecca is fretting and I must go to her good bye with love & kisses for you all & a large share for yourself from your devoted child
