Take wings of the morning and soar
High as on the pinions of feme;
Extending from shore unto shore
Good news to your readers proclaim
Resound a new era foreseen,
Exempt from aristocratic tides.-
Exempt from a monied machine;-
Now Martin Vanburen presides.
Rough have been the storms you have rode;
Invironed with truth may you ride;
Vain glorious billows that flowed,
E'en now are sunk calm by your side.
Rejoice in the victory gained,-
Unshackled by such a black storm
Nor shrink from the ground you've maintained
In dread of a future alarm
Our people supreme, let that be your motto,
Nor show a word in your columns that are not so.
T. B.
Dec 20th 1836

Eventful years that in succession come
Mark the dull paths of mortals doomed to roam
To prosperous hights , & then adverse they fall
To rise no more till the last trumpets call,
Time allways prgnant always brincing forth
