The Society
Lebanon 14th May 1818. The Union Library Society met according to the direction of the constitution. Maj. William Steele is appointed president H. L. Douglass Secretary & Thomas B. Reese David McMurray & William Donnell inspectors.
The exchange being made -- Walter Carruth drew the first number whereupon the Society having squandered it (?) ordered by the president that the meeting at adjourn until the meeting in course

Walter Carruth esqr is appointed to the chair H.L. Douglass, Sec.
Thomas B. Reese & William Donnell being absent C. G. Finly & William Wilson are appointed inspectors with Capt Brevard heretofore appointed
The society proceeded to the exchange and thereupon William Harris drew the first number --
Thomas Brevard having failed to return his books No. 3. It is ordered that he deliver them to Walter Carruth esqr within the time prescribed by the constitution.

The society proceeded to the exchange of books Samuel Cannon drew the first lot
David McMurry being absent and his books not being returned, he is fined one dollar, unless a reasonable excuse be offered and his lot delivered to William Jones in ten days.
John Forbes failed to forward the 9 vol. Hume & is fined one dollar unless a reasonable excuse be offered and said volume

be delivered Robt. Donnell in ten days David McMurray appearing & returning his books before adjournment he is excuse & the fine remitted.
O. G. Finly not attending or returning his books he is fined one dollar unless he offers a reasonable excuse & delivers his books to John Forbus in ten days

The Society Proceeded to the exchange of Books H. L. Douglass returned a volume defaced and is fined twenty five cts.
Joseph Johnson not returning his lotts of books is fined one Dollar unless he offers a reasonable exchange
John Bone received the first lott
David McMurry failed to return His lott of books and is fined one Dollar without reasonable excuse.

The inspectors took upon themselves the reconsideration of the delinquent to the last exchange day it is considered that John Forbes is excused from any fine
It is also considered that the fine assessed against O. G. Finley for failing to return his lott at our last meeting be remitted fifty cents --
David McMurry forwarded his Books before the Society adjourned it is considered that his fine be remitted
