There is a violent controvery between Cann & Slade at
Greensboro Slade sent a servant [?] a few days ago with a
letter to engage me, and the Letter contained a request that I would
write to you and engage you in his behalf.

I am engaged in law study, trying to get
back a little of my Law Knowledge, which late Circumstances
had entirely dissipated. [New text?] on the Index to my reports by the
Stage of last Week, and I hope Mr Gales will now soon be able to
print my old reports. I am giving them a revisal -

Your business here goes on very well. Mr Hunter will
finish his work at the Dam in ten days, if the weather be
good. The mill has a reasonable share of Custom for the Season.
- William is industrious. He has got his [?] Ground nearly
cleaned - The Ground has been so hard frozen that little Ploughing
is done. The Beam of your Plough being of brittle ash, was
broken. William says it was cracked when it came up.
He will, I hope, make you a good crop. I will often see
him and encourage him.

My family are in their Usual Health -

God bless you -

Your Affectionate Friend.

A. D. Murphey.
