Petersburg 27 Janny 1822

Mr. Thomas Ruffin

Dr Sir

I am informd both by Bro. Duncan
and his son [underlined] Charls. that Doct. M. Cadin is willing to
compromise the claim that Duncan has against him
on which you have brot suit by paying $1000. in
Cash Down. Considering the scarcity of money. and
the pressing demand Duncan has for it, Ithink it would
be well to accept of the Docts proposition and
take the 1000$. - in the event of your making the
arangement I wish the amt. to be applyed to the payt.
of the Debt due D. [Henderson?], Co. Iwish you to loose
no time if you please in making this arangement
as. it is my sinceare desire that D H & Co should be
paid as soon as possible. [underlined] Charls will render any
assistance in bringing the business to a close that you
may require of him.

Very Respectfully -
your obt sert

Someone transcribed this page but didn't click 'Needs review', so I proofread it, clicked Done, then clicked Approve to put it in Indexed status. I did the same thing on the previous page, and probably more after this one.
