Same -- Wrote resolutions on death of Chas Rawson and James Livingston, and at 2 PM went to meeting of Exempts -- President, with 1st Vice Prest, besides me -- Out at 4 -- Evening about town -- Bed at 1

Monday Feb 11

Clear & pleasant -- Special election day called for to get up a State Lottery -- I got up the returns for Enterprise -- had to go to Gold Hill, & walk back at 12 with the returns, & then get the VA wards -- 8 in all -- Hard job but made it -- Bed at 2 -- very tired --

Got left -- Express changed time last Saturday -- Leaves Va at 2:30 PM -- I went down to Carson -- got my report & got back on evening train -- Got to Enterprise report -- Bed at 1 -- Billy Emerson & troupe played at Opera House last night to big house -good house also tonight -- going to give 2d & last entertainment tonight -- took application yesterday, of George Allen for 6000 insurance, for his two sons John and Joseph Allen $3000 each -- Gave it to Dr Manson --

AM clear & Springlike -- PM blustering & cooler, with gathering clouds -- Got left again this morning -- Took the 2:30 PM passenger train & reported same as yesterday --Ormsby House Carson dosed with 1/2 dozen cases small pox, in family of the proprietor -- Borders, Legislative etc all got out in a hurry after discovery last evening -- Two daughters one 21 and the other 16 died this PM & evening -- Great excitement -- Evening I attended Billy Emerson between acts in his specialties -- Fair house -- Got in Enterprise report -- Wrote up the Chronicle, and bed at 3 -- Cloudy & cold with a few snow flakes in the air
