Same -- PM, funeral of Frank Wallace, Grand Secretary I.O.O.F. in this State, who died last Friday of cancerous condition of the stomach and bowels as shown by autopsy -- Old timer here, & old friend of mine -- Band of 15 pieces; Patriarchs Militant 36; Order on foot, 200; carriages 23 -- Finest floral pieces I ever saw, were borne on foot, one a grand bed of flowers representing top of grave 6 ft long -- Many Odd Fellows from Reno, Carson, Dayton & elsewhere -- Evening about town -- Bed 12 -- Tom Alchorn killed at Belcher works today --

Monday June 3
Clear & very warm -- 86 -- At noon I rode to Gold Hill on bus -- got off at Senator Jones' residence -- Had interview with him on something for me -- could get nothing definite -- He goes to San F by tonight's train -- I go to Reno -- Very hot in G.H. rode back in a one horse cart with Con Ahern -- Got a 50 ft string of garden hose at Gillig's for $7.50 and took it with me by 5:20 PM train to Reno -- Found all well -- Evening saw Jones off for SF by 10 o'clock train -- Bed 11 --

Hot 88 -- AM clear -- PM heavy clouds & thunder showers to the east & south within 5 miles of Reno -- Evening clear -- AM put the couplings onto the new hose, wet down

AM clear -- 82 -- clouded up toward noon & gave a light shower -- 1 or 2 more in the PM -- Thunder -- cooled down to 76 -- Watered trees & yard -- planted peas, beans, squash, sunflowers, etc -- trimmed trees, etc -- PM down town short time -- evening home -- fiddle & banjo -- Bed 10 --

AM clear -- PM cloudy -- Returned to Va by AM train -- PM & evening about town -- Bed 11 --

Same -- PM a smart shower of rain for about 20 minutes -- About town -- Bed 11 -- Seattle, W.T. burned yesterday PM, totally -- loss over $15,000,000 -- A committee about town today collecting relief for the Johnstown sufferers --

Clear & pleasant -- 78 degrees -- AM wrote 4 page letter to Bro Sam and mailed it -- PM about town -- Evening ditto -- Bed 12 --
Tuesday June 11
Clear 90 degrees in Reno -- Missed morning train & got George Mooney to drive me to Carson in buggy -- 2 horses -- caught train & rode on it to Reno -- PM about town with Bernstein -- Evening down town -- Met Bill Gibson et al -- Bed 10 --
Reno $200 note -- 92 degrees -- Sam Jones & Special Car
Wednesday June 12
Same -- 92 degrees in PM Clouded up & cooled off about 4 PM with breeze, but no rain -- Renewed the $200 note at First National Bank for 60 [days] longer, or till August 12th, with Justice W H Young's indorsement -- Was about town -- Sam Jones went up on morning train, with Haggin's private traveling car to take his old mother and members of his family to Santa Monica, Cal -- It was so long and 3 big wheels on each side of the tracks -- 12 in all -- that it spread the truck in rounding a curve just below the Eureka switch -- when the evening local train went up two box cars became derailed at that point in consequence, & it took several hours to clear & repair the track -- The down evening express train had to wait & didn't arrive at Reno till 2 next morning -- Evening down town -- bed 11 --

AM sultry in Reno & Carson -- PM cloudy with 1 or 2 light thunder showers in Va -- Morning heard the express train at 2 o'clock arrive at Reno -- At 7 AM went down to RR station and visited Sam Jones in his car -- Met and conversed with his old mother, 86 yrs old, blind -- Morning express & mail train from California 1 hour late -- left on train for Va at 10 AM -- Arrived at 12:45 PM -- The showers this PM cooled off the atmosphere and laid the dust, & about 5:30 the Uniform Rank K & P of Reno paraded streets -- About 40 of them -- escorting the Grand Lodge, now in session at Pythian Hall -- Masonic Grand Lodge been in session here the last day or two -- Met C W Hinchcliffe -- Thos Price, Abe Hoffman from Austin & others from

Same -- PM rode to Gold Hill on 'bus -- called on Mrs James Driscoll, at her father's residence, near the Belcher mine, relative to getting insurance on her husband's life, to the extent of $3000 or $5000 -- Walked part way back -- Overtaken by Judge Hall in 1 horse buggy -- Rode to Va with him -- Evening at Mt Davidson Lodge as Warden -- Afterward about town -- Bed 12 --
