clear and pleasant hoping am I worked at sorting out and sacking my cabinet ores from Austin and the Comstock -- at 11 took them in a dray to the Reno Reduction Works -- a mile below Reno on the river -- Paid 4 bits drayage -- 207 lbs -- not over 20 lbs Comstock -- about 120 of it was the richest of Austin ore -- ruby silver -- rest was base ore full of iron & copper [illegible] mostly from the Reed and Curtis dump, Austin -- staid at the works and saw the whole lot run through the hand crusher -- took 3 men, and I helping -- saw it sampled & sample given to Assay office -- Too

at Reno Reduction Works -- George Ernst --

late for assay -- will be done tomorrow & result sent me Reno -- walked to Reno in company with George Ernst -- who met me in the works -- He is employed as assayer there, I think -- He used to be compositor in Sentinel office, Dayton -- over 20 years ago, and when I knew him -- Have not seen him since -- Knew each other right off -- Got to Reno at 4 PM --telegraphed at once to H P Cohen, Enterprise: "Couldn’t make afternoon train -- will be up in the morning sure" -- Went home to family & staid tonight -- tired--
