At home Cold Snowstorm
I dine with Lieut Gov Davis

Met Lieut Gov Davis & had to go to dinner with him at his residence -- Had a big turkey, 16 pounds, from Ogden, Fine, fat and juicy -- splendidly cooked -- company present-- Davis & wife, Mr Hardy from Tuscarora, Doten, Miss Davis, sister to the Gov, Rev Mr Davis and wife, & Col H G Shaw -- Had very pleasant time and had to tear myself away and take cars for Reno at 6:55 -- Reno on time -- Met Powning & had a little talk on newspaper business -- Home -- all right -- Bed 10 -- On the train

Assembly off VA

with me tonight were most of the members of the Assembly, [ ]and all, they having adjourned over till Monday -- Taking a run on free passes to San Francisco -- they will be back Monday --

Friday, Jan 28

clear, cold morning -- 18 above zero at our house, & also at the Depot hotel -- Took the 7:10 AM train for Carson -- On time -- Senate as usual -- Had long afternoon session, & adj till Monday -- Took train for Va at 5:15 -- Gave in what copy I had ready, at the office, went to my room & wrote up rest of my Carson report -- Read Proof -- Bed 2 --
