Bowers of California" -- introducing the old song of "Joe Bowers," and adding two more verses to it by way of sequel -- Bed at sunrise --

Friday April 29

Cloudy, blustery, dusty, cold and disagreeable -- Rose at 11AM -- PM about town -Quite a lively snow storm set in about dark which laid the dust and whitened the ground -- Evening was at Enterprise office awhile -- Bed at 2 -- a very light snow falling -- [illegible] overhauling my old stocks today I found 100 shares Pioneer which I have had for about 10 yrs -- It is now in the stock list at 30 cts -- Took it to broker Douglass & told to sell it --

Wintry Pioneer stock found & sold

Saturday April 30

Cold & stormy -- frequent snow squalls -- Froze in the shade all day, & colder in evening -- Bed at 1 -- Very Wintry weather -- Yesterday in overhauling my old stocks I found 100 share certificate Pioneer with receipt for last assessment in 1879 -It being listed on the stock Board at 30 cts -- I handed it to the J R Douglass stock broker & he sent it down & sold it at 10 cts a share -- cash to me $7.50 -- Picked up, as it were -- Moral -- never throw away a piece of old stock --
