Cloudy & 20 above -- 40 [degree] change in last day or two -- Joe Eckley's application returned yesterday, from San Francisco for explanation relative to [rheumatism?] Dr Mason wrote explanation on it, & I will send it back to SF tomorrow -- Joe paid me the $45 today -- $27 of it is mine under the new contract giving me 60 per cent -- I went around & paid up some of my small bills & attended business generally -- Evening about town some -- Home at 12 -- Bed 3 -- Telegram from wife at 6 PM "Come home & stay till bad weather is over " -- This clipping from this evening's Virginia Chronicle is correct -- (12 above zero when I went to bed this night) --

last appearance of Neil Burgess and company --They played "Vim" last evening to a good house, and "Widow Bedott" this evening to about half a house -- He plays the leading female character in each piece -- Very funny indeed -- Each evening concluded with most excellent aerobatic feats by Bowler and McVeigh -- Bed at 2 --
