stopping for lunch - Evening about town a little but went to bed at John Wolmering's lodging house at 10:30, tired -- Sent a postal card to wife by train this evening, telling her where I am, etc -- Carson is looking beautifully at present, Capitol Square especially, with luxuriant trees, shrubbery flowers, etc -- One big picnic ground -- Capitol Square the most beautiful spot of its size in the State of Nevada --

Sunday July 1

Clear warm and pleasant -- started in again at Controllers at 10 AM & worked very diligently without cessation till 6 PM -- Slept at Wolmerings again at 11 --

Monday July 2

Same -- Commenced again at 10 and at 4:30 got through -- left on 5:10 PM local train for Va, arr at 7 -- good dinner -- Went to Opera House -- About 2/3 of a house -- Very good entertainment -- Mrs Bowers seems as good as she was a dozen years ago when she was here last -- Bed at 1 -- US Marshal Thos E Kelly died suddenly at noon at his house on a street from heart disease -- About 50 years old -- Wife died of same disease a few weeks ago -- Leave 6 children, youngest about 4 --
