Hudson Wilson, President Citizens National Bank (Faribault), Minn dated July 24, 1891 -- George Pease, cashier, L R Weld, Vice President -- inquiring the whereabouts of Granville W Pease, about 55 years of age, etc -- Family not heard of him for 4 or 5 yrs, & fear he is dead -- He is my old friend Pease, of Schurz station, Clerk etc of Walker River Indian agency -- Will reply tomorrow or next day.

1891 W P Bennett $2 -- Dined with Zimmer H Wilson -- G W Pease -- O H Grey -- NY Clipper

Saturday August 1, 1891

Clear & 84 -- Wrote reply to Hudson Wilson, also wrote to Granville W Pease, Schurz, Walker River Indian Agency enclosing Wilson's letter -- Also letter to O H Grey, Secy of State, Carson relative to the State Statutes, and acknowledging receipt of the copy he sent me -- Also letter to NY Clipper about Sol Noels bet on the Mount Davidson beer keg feat -- Sol enclosed $5 greenback for reply -- These letters were all mailed this evening -- Was about town some -- Bed 1 --

Sunday Aug 2

Same -- At noon W P Bennett came from Gold Hill & I wrote letters etc for 3 hours or more -- At 4 PM went to dinner by special invitation at Zimmer's -- his wife and little Eddie and Hazel, the Professor & I -- Evening about town -- Bed at 1 -- Bennett paid me $2 for my work --

84 degrees -- Clear & pleasant -- wrote & mailed letter to wife in Reno this evening's mail, enclosing a $5 greenback -- Bed 12 --

Tuesday Aug 4

Same -- 80 degrees -- As usual -- Bed 12

Wednesday Aug 5

Clear, blustering & cool -- 76 degrees -- As usual -- Bed 1

Thursday Aug 6

Same -- Evening at Enterprise -- Got in article on Pine Nut (see next page) proof etc -- Bed 2 --

Friday Aug 7

Same -- Bed 1

Saturday Aug 8

Same -- warmer -- Went to Caledonian Club picnic on a Enterprise complimentary ticket -- rode on a flat with the other excursionists -- Was about town till 2 PM when I walked up to the grounds & saw the rest of it, took items etc -- Returned at 8 -- Wrote up for Enterprise, read proof etc, & bed at 2:30 -- tired --

Same -- warmer -- PM attended the regular monthly meeting of the Exempts -- Got in my report as a member of the Finance Committee for the last term -- 6 months-- signed also by Chas Ziegler and J P Smith, the other members of the Committee -- Evening about town some -- wrote, etc -- Bed 2 -- Received today by express a copy of "California Blue Book, or State Roster" 1891 -- from F G Waite Secy of State, California, Sacramento -- Nice well got up book, illustrated -- 280 pages -- much information -- Also received letter from G W Pease, Walker River Reservation, Schurz Station -- The book from Sacramento was dedicated to me in the handwriting of W H Stevens Deputy Secy of State -- He was my ass't as Secy S Central Comm in the campaign of 1878, so I am probably indebted to him for this favor --

Clear & 84 degrees -- About town -- Rec'd letter from H Wilson in response to the one I sent him Aug 1 about G W Pease, thanking me, etc -- Sent letter to Secy of State, Sac Cal, acknowledging receipt of the Blue Book thanking therefor, etc -- Bed 12 --

Wednesday Aug 12

Same -- Evening Opera House -- Concert by Miss Mayme Heffron & local talent -- One of the best amateur entertainments I have yet seen here -- About 2 thirds of a house --

Was at Enterprise after with items and reading proof -- Bed 3 -- This PM met Directors James and Kinzle on C st & they and I levied a new assessment of 1 1/2 cts per share on Centennial -- I fixed it up & got it into Enterprise -- Met Jim Andrews this PM, on C st -- He was in Como when I was -- Hadn't seen him since, but knew him

Jim Andrews -- Millie in Reno New York Clipper $5 -- Showers

& called him by name right off -- He is now a prospector southward & got an (antimony) mine about 60 miles from here in that direction -- made item of him as well as Centennial etc -- Letter from wife says that Millie & baby would arrive at Reno tonight for a visit --

Thursday Aug 13

Same -- About town -- Rec'd registered letter from NY Clipper returning the $5 greenback, saying the clipper charges nothing for its decisions, & to see the clipper of the Aug 15th for it -- I returned Sol Noel his $5 and we will wait -- Evening clouded up and we had 1 or 2 very light showers before midnight -- when I went to bed -- more after that --

Clear & pleasant -- 83 -- Evening got in some items into Enterprise, about Centennial, and Sol Noel's beer keg Mt Davidson bet, which was decided in his favor by the NY Clipper of the 15th, which arrived today -- Was at office reading proof etc till 3 o'clock -- Bed 4 --

Same -- Wrote a card for Sol Noel & got it into Chronicle -- They charged him $5 -- Evening about town -- Bed 12 --

Thursday Aug 20

Same -- 81 degrees -- As usual -- Jerry Hurley, my next room neighbor was groaning with pain this AM -- Had to come off shift, Con Va Mine at 3 AM -- Big boil on each arm, and big swelling in right groin -- I doped the swelling with Franklin oil and gave him

Jerry Hurley sick -- I his Doctor Mrs B F Layton's Farewell Benefit My Centennial assessment (No 42) paid

a tonic of 1 tablespoonful of paregoric 1 of whisky, to 3 of water -- Fixed him soothingly for the day -- By my directions he made a flaxseed poultice for the swelling & put it on this evening -- When I went to bed at 1 I gave another tonic
