Same-- PM down town short time -- At room and completed the stringing up and fixing up of the old violin. At 4:30 PM having got her in 1st class tune, with Billy Brady the colored janitor of this Douglass Building I struck out on the first time I have played on that old violin for about 43 years, as I left home the 18th of March 1849. And the tune I played was "On the Road to Boston," one of the most familiar of father's old tunes on this jolly old instrument -- it sounds out splendid, especially in the bass or lower notes. Evening Professor Zimmer called, and he played the old violin for all of its merits. Says it is a very fine & valuable instrument, and in the bass or lower notes it is really phenomenal. Bed 1 --
