Friday Aug 19

Same -- A big fire on C st at 2:45 AM -- Heard the alarm but didnt go to the fire -- Passed as usual -- Soaked my feet, trimmed toe nails & bed at 1 --

Mrs Prisk -- on the Comstock

Saturday Aug 20

Same -- Regular Republican Primary Election, for delegates to the State Convention at Reno Aug 31 -- Thirty delegates for Storey -- I voted in my 3d Ward. Bed 1 --

Sunday Aug 21

Same -- 86[degrees] -- About as usual -- Evening attended the ME Church, as Mrs Prisk was announced in the Enterprise to sing there this evening -- Crowded house -- She was with the rest of the singers but kept seated in the 2 first acts, the choir risiing each time, also the audience. I sat in a rear seat with Tommy Johns and wife. After the sermon, Mrs Prisk got up & sang a solo, with organ accompaniment. Sung "Nearer My God to Thee" in different tune & style than I ever heard it. Had same good voice as I heard her last in Austin. Simply glorious. She was announced to sing at church social and concert tomorrow evening for benefit of the church -- Bed 12 -- Mrs Prisk has been stopping with friends in Gold Hill last two or three weeks.

Off for Reno -- State Military Encampment Bessie Leaves Us -- "The Tigress" -- Sammy and Alf

Monday Aug 22

Same -- about 90 [degrees] -- At 5:20 [AM?] took train for Reno -- At Treadway's ranch Carson passed the annual encampment of the State Militia, commencing today for a week -- First under law of last Legislature -- Arrived at Reno 8:05 -- all right -- Bed 10 --

Tuesday Aug 23

Clear & cooler -- I came down to see Bessie off. She left on train at 10:45 for Eunices & will attend Normal School, San Jose the next 3 years. Wife & I & Sammy saw her off all right -- About home most of day -- Evening, Sam, Goodie & I attended Salvation Army services -- Bed 10 -- Bowels bad --

Wednesday Aug 24

Same -- PM down town couple of hours -- Evening took Goodie to Opera House -- Miss Loraine Hollis in "The Tigress," -- 1/2 a house -- good play. Bed 11. -- Sammy is employed at $25 a month, 15 cts an hour, skirmishing for butterflies, bugs and worms, etc, for Prof Willman of the State University -- Alfie telegraph messenger $25 a month -- Both to quit on the 1st, for school.

Hot weather -- Encampment ended Wife camping out

Same -- Odd jobs about home -- Evening down town awhile -- Bed 10

Friday Aug 26

Same -- hotter -- 90[degrees] -- "Governor's Day" at the State Military encampment,

Carson. Many attended from here as well as from the Comstock & elsewhere -- Evening down town with Goodie -- Bed 10 --

Saturday Aug 27

Same -- 86 -- About town most of day -- Morning train brought the {Tuscarora?] and Carson Guards from Encampment which ends today. Evening the Reno Guard gave {Tuscarora's?] a reception -- Was down town awhile -- Bed 10 and by myself, as wife takes a notion to sleep up stairs, in order to get better chance for uninterrupted rest -- Goodie also sleeps up in the garret near her -- Camping out --

School Resumed -- "Help", at home Republican State Convention

Sunday Aug 28

Same -- 86 [degrees] -- PM & evening about town -- Bed 10 -- cool nights

Monday Aug 29

Same -- About town -- Vacation ended and school resumed today with wife on deck again -- Boys employment being ended and all three children at school, Miss May Payne, a neighbot came in as "help" about the house, at $10 a month -- Bed 10 --

Tuesday Aug 30

Same, about town -- Evening met arriving delegates for Rep State Convention tomorrow -- was with 'em -- Bed 10 ---

Wednesday Aug 31

Same -- Attended convention -- It split -- Evening down town -- Bed 10 --
