Sunday July 22

Same 87[degrees] -- Hot day -- The strikers at Sacramento yesterday PM declared the strike off and the first through express train came last night to Reno & here, with yesterdays SF papers -- Bed 12 -- All trains running as usual on SP and V & T --

Monday July 23

Cloudy -- 88[degrees] -- Light thunder shower about noon -- Bed12 -- Herting on trial in Dist court for killing Cocks -- Jury hung all night --

Trains on Time Again -- The Strike -- 1894 Geo R Evans -- Karl Gardner in "Fatherland" Herting-Cocks -- Manslaughter -- Evans and his big dog

Tuesday July 24

Clear & 87[degrees] -- Trains on time for first time since the strike -- mails from both west & east -- Strike broken in East & Cal & Here -- but said to be strong as ever, in & about Chicago -- PM I visited George R Evans at the American Exchange, Washington Street -- Old prospector & friend of mine -- Considerable of an inventor of mining mechanical arrangements and processes -- Comes over from San Francisco occasionally -- Now at the Exchange badly banged up with erysipilas & other ailments -- Have visited him several times in last week or ten days -- This PM drew up a bill of sale of Judie mine, out at Pine-nut, adjoining the famous Ziru mine on the Southwest to Charles Cousins for $10 -- from Evans -- He has his big
