Variable- pleasant- Secured my old room- No 7- at Tim Dempsey's, formerly Wolmering's where I was two years ago- Moved into it and slept there tonight, dropping my room 7 at the Briggs House. Bed at 12- Would have made this change before but couldn't. Tried to get a room here when I first came down from Va, but all full. Made it now because Bill Flaherty who has occupied it left for his hime, last evening, Massena, St Lawrence

Variable- PM blustering, mean weather- Bed 12

Thursday Aptil 4
Fair & colder- almost freezing in shade all day. George R Paynter & son were among the arrivals at Va today, having returned to Iowa- Mrs JAmes Ward, formerly Kate McCarthy, sister to Denis McCarthy of the Va Chronicle died last night suddenly, of heart disease- Bed 12

Clear & warmer- Bed 12-
