special -- 50 pieces -- Quite a number went up from here, & returned on the special at 5, which went through to Reno where the band plays this evening, concert, & then goes East -- Six inches snow fell in San F yesterday -- first for 9 years -- They had lots of snowballing fun.

Variable -- occasional light snow squalls -- cold -- Prosecution in Jones case goes on -- Letter to Journal as usual -- Letter from wife -- Bed 1 -- very cold and threatening --

Same -- Keyes passed through to Va from San F this AM -- Hirsch Harris, Melter & Refiner testified for prosecution -- Letter to Journal -- Bed 1
Saturday March 7
Clear & pleasant -- Prosecution going ahead & I reporting to Journal as usual -- Sent letter to Keyes by morning train -- Fred Sargent, the express & job wagon man, got thrown out of wagon this evening by horses running away, & was very badly hurt -- insensible for an hour -- Head badly banged, and jaw broken in two places -- Also hurt internally judging by the blood flowing from his mouth -- Nearly 60 yrs old -- rooms at my lodging house
