relative to extensive gold placer mines discovered, up the Humboldt river a little over three miles above & to the east of Carlin -- gold belt reported to be richer and more extensive than any placer deposit was discovered in this State -- The discovery was made and the claims staked by the Bernard Mining Company, consisting of Messrs Bernard, Moore and others of Carson. Been traced for some miles -- Auriferous deposit of red oxide cement and quarts in high bars and reefs running back from the river -- test of 89 lbs sent to Carson mint, went $16 gold per ton -- Other tests show all the way up from $12 to $16 per ton -- In the Hale & Norcross case today [clipping]
