Variable -- light sprinkle or 2 of rain -- On morning east bound train I saw Capt Johnny Pooley who left for Klondike from the Comstock Aug 30 -- He only went as far as Juneau and turned back -- going now to take look at some mines out in Idaho, etc -- John W Mackay went from Va to the Silver Peak mines, Esmeralda Co yesterday -- to examine with idea of purchase -- I am badly troubled with hay fever -- nose & eyes, sneezing, weeping etc -- a bad cough -- got it good now -- Evening light showers -- Bed 11 -- Solly Smith beat George Dixon for featherweight championship at Woodwards Pavilion SF evening before last in 20 rounds --
