Morning, light showers laid all dust -- cleared off toward evening, cold -- got my letter to Jones off this morning -- Mrs Jones and Miss Marion Jones her daughter arrived at the Palace Hotel, S.F. Monday from Santa Monica -- Jones is expected from Washington, or she or they are going there or coming here to meet him I s'pose -- Evening I attended meeting at Court House, addressed by Newlands and Dr Stubbs of the University -- on the present and future of Reno, how to improve and advance her natural advantages, interests and prospects -- Newlands made good talk of an hour, and Stubbs 1/2 hour -- Committee of 5 gents & 2 ladies selected to investigate & study up the whole matter & report at a future meeting -- Bed 12 -- clear & sharp cold -- The meeting was very well attended, many ladies present -- Newlands leaves for Washington in the morning, to be at opening of Congress --
