Same -- At 8 AM train for Va I met Frank Osbiston, my old Comstock friend -- Haven't seen him for over 20 yrs -- Knew each other at a glance -- He went to Va on business & returned on evening train -- met him there again, & JP Jones with him -- Both left on 10:10 PM train for San Francisco -- Saw them off -- Wrote an item in the Gazette about Frank, & gave him a copy of the paper -- The tunnel blockade still seriously interferes with travel, freight & mails -- will for a week or two longer -- Election returns still coming in indicate Rep Governor & mixed otherwise -- close election -- Will know all probably tomorrow -- Bed 12 --

Same -- Evening at Opera House with Nick Hummel of the Wadsworth Dispatch -- Good house & good play -- "Under the Dome" -- melodrama, founded on the great naval disaster in the harbor of [Apia, Somoa?], a few years ago, when the US war ship Trenton sank with the band playing the "Star Spangled Banner" -- We got away up in the gallery for the 1st time for me -- Very spectacular piece -- good scenic effects, etc -- Bed 11 -- The V & T noon local taken off for the blockade --
