Cloudy -- Variable -- Evening I met Fred Sharon -- Been on a visit to the Comstock & returning home with his wife, to San F, their home -- on morning train -- Bed 11 --

Thursday Nov 17

Same -- fine -- Evening & night I wrote 5 page letter, No 7, to Gardnerville Record -- inclosed note calling for coin -- Bed 3:30 -- In the Student Record of the present month, my son Sam has quite a piece of poetry, seven verses, entitled Cuba Libre -- His first attempt -- that I have ever seen, and a pretty good one, savoring considerably of the poetically practical --

Same, blustering & cooler -- PM slept couple of hours -- Got my Record No 7 off on morning V & T train -- Bed 10, fine -- Dr JU Hall, formerly of Gold Hill, died at San Jose, Cal, last Sunday, the 13th, aged 75 yrs -- native of Kentucky --

AM light, steady rain -- PM it broke off clear toward evening -- very muddy --
