Same -- cold, disagreeable day -- The State Fair crowd, horses, horsemen, sports, hobos, etc came on the PM local train to run our Dist Fair which starts tomorrow - The Elleford dramatic Co come this morning for a weeks run at Opera House -- Got my big mining table completed -- Big job -- Bed at 11:30 -- cold --

Monday Sept 23

Stormy, cold & disagreeable -- About 6 inches of snow whitened the Sierra very extensively west of here & pretty low down, some even whitening back streets a little -- Rained light showers during the PM & evening -- made streets very muddy -- 1st day of Carson Fair -- plenty of strangers of all kinds in town, of course -- Wrote on Govt job -- Elleford Dramatic Co good house -- Play, "Secret Service" -- I too busy to attend -- Bed 12 -- cold & cloudy etc -- Met Jewett Adams today & he showed me a letter from Harrison Gray, saying Rozzie dying victim of heart disease, uric acid, etc -- out of her head -- Dr says no hope -- liable to die any day -- A 'bus came down from the Comstock this morning & got on regular run to & from the Fair grounds -- It was marked Virginia and Gold Hill -- one of the old time line, of Jake White's -- Took off my hat in due reverence as it passed -- This is
