Monday Sept 27

Same -- 3 PM I walked down to the race track & took in the Fair -- Big attendance -- many from Reno & the Comstock & all town were there -- streets deserted -- Plenty of hoss racing, but I went to see the 50 mile bicycle race between a good team from Sacremento and Carson team - Carson won by about 12 feet -- Evening I was down town & visited Ozark Saloon awhile -- Fine band of music, by fiddle, little fiddle, piano and cornet -- Also a sort of hula hula, Little Egypt*, one young woman dancer on stage -- N.G. Bed 12 -- The Indian Band, 24 pieces does the music for the Fair, for nothing -- can afford to -- The trial of Leon Czolgosz only lasted 3 days -- was found guilty of murder in the 1st degree and yesterday sentenced to death by electrocution Oct 28 -- one month, murder state law of N.Y. Big inter-American and England yacht race, between Columbia and Shamrock No 2 is now on -- America won one out of three -- 1st heat -- "Faust" played tonight --
