Same -- stormy -- moderate -- Steady light rain set in about dark and continued during the night -- Fixed up and sent to the Overland Monthly my story of "Woods Creek in Forty-Nine" -- 15 pages legal cap -- 4,870 words -- 3 illustrations: camp of the Pilgrim Mining Co at Woods crossing, Dr H D Cogswells "deerskin cottage" near Curtis Creek, and the Doctor himself, rifle in hand -- Postage 10 cts -- Sent 10 cts stamped & directed envelope for return in case not wanted -- Bed 10:30

Same -- AM a few light showers laid the dust well -- Morning sent a page letter to Will W Booth, Tonopah Bonanza -- PM wrote & mailed 2 page letter to Gardnerville Record -- Bed 10

Same -- AM showery -- PM wrote & sent 2 page letter to Geo E Roberts, Washington D.C. about Dimmick, Heney & Jones in connection with the SF Mint robbery, $30,000 and the Carson Mint robbery about $80,000 -- showing up Heney's present Dilemma -- Bed 10:30 --

Tuesday Nov 26

Same -- principally clear & pleasant -- Letter from wife also from SL Tribune paying me $4.05 for Cor pub Oct 20 -- 1 col $2.50 and Nov 3 13 1/2 inch $1.55 -- Total $4.05 -- Sent receipt this evening -- Was with John F Uhlhorn considerably this PM at New office, etc -- Fixed up my new walking stick and wore it this PM -- fixed up the ferule end to suit me -- Bed at 10 --

164) Thanksgiving Day -- I Dine Out -- Rainy Night SL Tribune -- 4 pages -- Bad Eyetooth Swelling -Reno High School Football team Beats Gardnerville 30 to 0 --

Clear & Pleasant -- Evening cloudy again -- Commenced letter to the Tribune -- Bed 10 --

Thursday Nov 28

Variable, cloudy and evening rainy -- Thanksgiving Day -- Completed & sent 4 page letter to SL Tribune -- At 4 PM went to Thanksgiving dinner at Harry Day's -- Only himself, May Wiliams and myself -- Good turkey & all the fixings -- Spent evening very pleasantly till 9 -- Went to Arlington awhile -- read papers and Bed at 11 -- Raining strong & steadily -- A bruise or something of the kind in chewing on my left eye tooth made it exceedingly sore since day before yesterday, so much so that my left cheek is badly swollen, beneath the eye and near the nose -- tooth getting better tonight --

Friday Nov 29

Same -- a light shower or two -- Wrote on a letter to Cornelia -- Bed 10 -- Clear -- Reno High School Football team were at Gardnerville yesterday and beat the local team 30 to 0 --

The University Second 11 Play Our Indian Team -- 1901 Score 0 to 0 -- Cornelia 3 pages -- Wife 1 page -My Bad Eyetooth -- Congress Meets -- I Win $2.50 in Lottery --

Saturday Nov 30

Variable -- University second 11 came up from Reno by morning train for a bout with the Indian School football team at their ground near the Indian

School 4 miles south of town -- They were met and welcomed by the Indian Brass Band, 16 pieces, all dressed in Indian rig, yellow fringes down their pants, sort of plug hats with turkey feathers stuck in then, shawls or blankets, and all were painted Indian style -- comical and strange for the producers of such good music -- Good part of Carson went out to see the game -- And it was closely contested, coming out 0 to 0 -- I finished my 3 page letter to Cornelia & sent it by evening train -- also page letter to wife -- My tooth still troubles me badly -- face swollen to the eye, worst yet -- Dont seem to be getting better fast -- Bed at 10 -- Congress meets next Monday. I won a terminal prize of $2.50 in the Beneficencia Publica Lottery which drew last Thursday --

Variable -- California trains badly demoralized by a wreck or slip up somewhere in the Sierra -- Got no western mail -- My face somewhat better but still bad enough -- Bed 10:30 --

Monday Dec 2

Variable AM showery -- I attended arguments of attys in US Circuit Court before Judge Hawley in the Wedekind mine case Reno -- Many prominent Renoites present -- My face is getting all right again from my bad tooth --
