Thursday Aug 20

Clear & warm -- 86 deg -- At noon I got T B Storer, President of the Pioneers to go with me to Lee McGown Secy and sign that Memorial Condolence, as Prest and Sacy -- Storer is clerk in International and Lee McGown Deputy Sheriff -- McGown

Grant Memorial Sent No mail

had re-engrossed the Memorial, on 2 pages, same as I had done, & [thus] it was signed and put in envelope directed to Col Fred Grant New York City, New York -- 2 two cent stamps on it -- I mailed it myself, so that it went tonight -- Bed at 3 --

Friday Aug 21

Variable sky, and a little cooler toward evening -- I busy as usual on the mining report -- etc -- Got my work in as usual -- Bed at 3 -- No western mail today -- Accident on C P

Clear & cooler -- 84 deg -- Got letter from wife saying she would come up on evening

Unsure of the first Cordiell daughter's name, Echanne?

In the original diary, her name is clearly Johanna (you wouldn't have a way of knowing that). Her sister is Veronica (there is a typo in your transcript). Monnot doesn't need to be in brackets, because the correction is clearly handwritten in Jaffe's transcript.
