Wife Catarrh well Thursday Oct. 15 Same- Bed 3Friday Oct. 16 Same- warmer- Got letter from Bancroft & Co.- very peacable & quiet in tone- tells me I can get my wife's missent letter from Judge (Witaker), etc.- Mining day- busy as usual- Got letter from wife, enclosing a Reno ( Fair) correspondence for the paper- couldn't use it- all so I run in a part of it under head of "Reno Notes"- Bed at 3:30 Saturday Oct. 17 Same- Bed 3-

Sunday Oct. 18 Same- Took 5:25 train for Reno- Found all right there- Bed 10- My eyes are now well from Catarrh- Nose very little plugged yetNotes to Bancroft & Co. 20 to Wife Monday Oct. 19 Clear & very pleasant- Took morning train & was at Va at 10 AM- Went to Judge J W (Whitaker's) office- signed 4 notes to A L Bancroft & Co., each dated Oct. 19, 1885, for $41.92 each, payable respectively in 6, 9, 12, and 15 months, with interest at 10 cents per annum- aggregating $167.68- Took up my old notes, four of them, aggregating $101.70- The cents additional to them is the interest on them- Then I got $20 greenback and mailed it to my wife- PM a meeting of the Nevada Silver Association, at Pipers Opera House, and in evening Hon. Wm M Stewart, formerly US Senator from this State made an address at the same place on the Wm M Stewart in Va Kinkead Wife's letter returned from Bancroft Silver question- good house- Col Shaw reported- 1 worked in office- Through at 2- Bed 3- On train coming up this morning, was Ex Gov. Ainkead of Nevada and Alaska, I being old chum of his, chatted with him most of way up from Carson where he got aboard- He has not been on Comstock before for nearly 2 yrs- Will go home tonight for Carson- In settling up with (Whiteker) atty for Bancroft & Co., he retunred to me the letter which was to my wife, & was missent that time to B& Co. by mistake-

Cloudy & cooler -- Evening it cleared off fine again -- As usual -- Bed 3:30 -- My catarrh is well now entirely, and passes off without the usual go down through the lungs, cough, etc -- Have had it lighter than ever -- attribute it to the use of castor oil in the nostrils --

Clear & pleasant -- Mining day -- Lively work -- Evening the great Haverly Minstrel combination at Opera House -- crowded full -- $750 house -- I couldn't go -- 40 of them -- 35 in parade -- Through the streets about 1 PM 16 pieces of music -- all hands wore play hats -- Staid in office till nearly 3 -- Home -- Bed at 4 --
Same -- got telegram from wife that she & Sammy coming up [sevening] -- PM, crowded matinee at Opera House -- Haverly Minstrels -- I saw a little of it -- Worked at office awhile -- got lots of copy ahead so I could go to theatre [sevening] -- Secured pass and 3 seats -- Wife & Sammy came up on train -- took

them to room -- then to theatre -- Best performance of kind I ever saw -- The Cragg family with them, wonderful acrobats -- Office till 1:30 -- Home -- Bed 2

Same -- Rose at 10:30 -- Breakfast at Chanmond's -- took a walk out as far as 4th ward schoolhouse -- Home -- Dined at Grand Central -- At 5:35 PM left on cars for Reno -- Found everybody all right at home -- Bed at 10 --

one from A Richardson, Agt Cal Ass'd Press San Francisco dispensing with my services as agent here -- John Mackay arrived from SF today for a brief visit -- I met & shook hands with him at Con Va office -- Mining day -- Busy as usual -- Home at 3 -- wrote long letter to A Richardson to mail tomorrow -- Bed at 6 --

Friday night -- "Mary Stuart" matinee this Pm "Countess of Mansfield" (I took wife there & left her after the 1st act) and this evening "Macbeth" -- I saw the 4th and 5th acts -- This ends the Janauschek engagement -- Wrote & sent letter to Sam Crescengo, Austin today --
