have before remarked, I am now in
possession, as owner, of the controlling
interest in the Appeal. Now let me
tell you what I own, and how I
own it:

As I apprised you, in a former
letter, Robinson Barrett & Co, the late
proprietors of the Appeal, purchased,
about two months ago, new presses,
new material &c &c, with which to
carry on the Appeal newspaper and
job office. Well, they bought a lot
of types and some presses which
originally cost, landed in Virginia
City, some $4,600, for, what is
best represented in round numbers $2,000,
with a certain sale of interest and
a certain amount of the principal
payable monthly. Suffice it to say
that the terms are most favorable

Hello, I am not in agreement with some of the very new alterations being made "with a certain sale of interest and a certain amount of the prinicpal". see different versions. Although I do agree I have made an error of the name Robinson Barrett & Co. Possession line 2 did appear correct to me? I cannot see why it was changed to posession?

Special Collections

It should be correct now -- with possession and principal correctly spelled and transcribed. I also replaced the space between & and Co. for readability (&Co is the way it is written in the original; it could be transcribed either way, I think).
