July 25. Dr. Stubbs spoke of the appointment committee of the University, and said that those of the summer school tea-chers who pass their examinations cred-itably will be entitled to the priv-ilege of having their names filed with the committee.

After a brief talk on literature, Dr. Stubbs read to the assembly sev-eral beautiful selections, of which "Knee-Deep in June was perhaps enjoyed most.

July 26. Supt. Bleasdale spoke of the necessity of Nevada teachers living up to the standard of good teaching if they wish to secure good positions in Nevada. He also said that it is the aim of every deputy superintendent to emp-loy Nevada teachers when possible

Mr. Lightfoot spoke a few words about what he expects of his tea-chers the coming year, and said that his teachers will have to either in-spire or expire.

A second dance for the Summer Session Students was held at the Gymnasium, and was attended by a large crowd of young folks.

It is said that Superintendents Bray and Bleasdale came with the

intention of entertaining the "wall flow-ers," but as they were seen shaking the fantastic toe we assume that the "bouquet" was a minus quantity and they danced in order to ward off lonesomeness.

The crowd dispersed at a late hour and everyone reports a very pleas-ant evening.

July 27. Round Reno Royally "Where are you going my pretty maid? I'm going a-Renoing, Sir" -- she said. The time -- 10 o'clock, Sat. morn. July 27th The place -- Reno The girls -- Teachers attending S.S. The occasion -- Sight seeing in a truly roy-al manner in smoothly gliding auto-mobiles.

Of the many trips planned and carried out for the teachers of the Summer School, during their brief stay in Reno, the last was one of the most en-joyable. Several days before the great event the teachers had been told of the treat in store for them, and they looked forward to it with great antic-ipation.

Finally Saturday morning arrived, bright and smiling as a well behav-ed July day should be. And in perfect

accordance with the day every teacher arose with a smiling countenance all ready for the fun. About ten o'clock the auto-mobiles came gliding up to the hall, one-by-one. Soon they were filled with eager, happy teachers, four or five in each car. Then they were off.

Down they sped through Reno's shady residence streets to the busi-ness part of the city, and then out to Moana Springs, to the Insane Asylum, and to the Sparks Ranch, com-ing back in different directions.

They were only supposed to be gone an hour, but the drivers were very generous, and it was an hour of more than sixty minutes. Each teacher en-joyed every bit of the little trip from start to finish. The drive through the country was especially beautiful, a garden spot surrounded with hills, with the beautiful green of trees and fields, and the purple and brown of the hills, and the river winding down like a silver ribbon.

Eyes sparkled and tongues chattered. They were all vivacious young teach-ers and pretty teachers and -- but good-ness they're all young and they're all pretty. And, as they were all aff--

licted with automobilists the ride was doubly enjoyable.

Finally, they arrived home -- happy and contented, feeling that they had seen something worth while, and all appreciative of the treat which had been tendered them by the generous people.

The trip was carried out through the generosity and kindness of: Mr. F. O. Norton, Mrs. C. C. Codd, Mr. C. A. Lundy, Mr. C. W. Mack, Mr. H. S. Nichols, Mrs. S. Summerfield, Mrs A. F. Dombrels, Mrs. Steinheimer, Mr. Coppersmith Mrs. G.E. Weck, Mrs. G. S. Nixon, Mrs. J. E. Threlkel, Mr. Moffet and Mr. P. S. Roberts.

July 28. Two o'clock Sunday afternoon found the girls of Manzanita Hall assembled in the parlor eagerly waiting for Miss Howe. Having heard her on several occas-ions we felt that a great treat was in store for us, but we hardly expected the full joy of it.

With her usual sympathetic fire she began the "Servant of the House." The listeners sat tense and forgetful of their surroundings. At the crisis when Mary's tearful voice sounds her appeal, "Oh I want my dad," suppressed were heard
