April 29th 1939

Dear Marian:

While talking with Mayor LaGuardia yesterday he asked me to urge you to accept an invitation which has been or shortly will be extended to you to sing at the Stadium Concerts this summer. Remembering your great triumph there, I add my word to his urging you to accept.

Washington is still buzzing with comment on your great triumph there on April 9th. Here is a statement of the plan for the mural of that memorable scene, which will be placed either in the Interior Department building or at the entrance of a great auditorium which there is considerable likelihood of erection in Washington. Do you approve of the idea?

Cordially, Walter Secretary.

P.S. - Saturday night Gladys and I heard a song that should fit your voice superbly. It's Hugo Wolf's Schlafendes Jeasuskind. Do you know it? W.
