fat marle, & the other with white or
red marle, as rich as you can procure
& let the Pits remain so for the whole
winter exposed to the Air tho under
cover from the wet.
4. In March foll. when
the Sun enters Aries. dig another
square Pit, in which throw in the
Leaves & Straw above mentioned &
burn them to ashes. each apart & leave them for
9 days to cool, then put them into
seperate[sic] Casks for use -
At the same time collect
all the Rain water you can, as well
as the Snow & put it into Casks &
Vessells, & preserve it well -
When these are all prepared
to every Measure of Marle, put 3 Measures

I believe "Marle" is marl, which is a soil consisting of clay and lime formerly used as fertilizer.
