Hens Lay

When the Hens have done
laying, feed them for 2 Days with the
following Compound.
Dissolve [?] of Glauber
Salts in Water, & mix it with Potato
Meal in the common Consistence, &
feed the Hens with it, giving them
Plenty of Water, & on the 3rd Day they
will lay.
This Quantity of Salt is
sufficient for 6 or 8 Hens.

Pulvis fulminans
Dissolve [A.S. "silver"] in Ag: fortes, & [A.S. "precipitate"]
with [A.S. "water"]. dry the [A.S. "precipitate"], then moisten
with Caustic [A.S. "salt"] ^. Dry again very
carefully in a Phial in the Sun.
