126 Ginger Beer To 1 oz: of bruised ginger add 1 lb: of loaf Sugar, the thin rind of a Lemon & a Gallon of water, to be poured boiling hot over the other ingredients; cover down closely to keep in the steam: When quite cold; add the juice of one Lemon, & a table-spoonfull of Yeast: let stand 24 hours, strain, bottle, and closely cork down. The Beer will be ready for use in 3 days. N.B. Be careful to get the best Ginger, and slice or bruise it - that which is ground will not do. Put in stone bottles. Miss Barber

[Sal alcali] [sic] Then Rx [recipe] of the best Zink ʒ [dram] iiii [4] Tutty aa + the [t?]of a walnut of Venetian Borax, mix & throw these into the Crucible, & it will immediately crackle, & you will have a light yellow Matter with a yellow Flame rise up, when this is by degrees gone off + well worked. Stir the [shaves?] well with an iron wire till it is burnt + the Copper remains very hot in the Flux, Pour it into an Ingot well smeared with wax, +you may ham mer it + draw it to wire, + it will work + look like the best Gold.

M.S.Vol 3. [Impression?] of Leaves on Paper or for needle work

Lay the Leaf[width?] between the Leaves of a Book, for a few minutes till flat, wet it with Linseed Oil & [Praileous Ink. Press it hard on white Paper or [tin on a ?] moistened with soft water & you will have the perfect figure, which you may colour with a pencil or werk with a Needle

186. To extract the [L.E.?] of Roses

Gather Roses after [Sun Rising?] & lay the Flowers in a cucurbit [S.S.F.?] of Sea Salt & leaves beginning with a Layer of Salt till the cucurbit iis half full, press them down, & put in the [Helm?], [Seele?] it close, Stop the Nose of the [Helm?] & let it stand for 2 days.

The Salt in this Process, extracts the essential Oil by Fermentation, & after a few Days you may distill in MB.

You must throw away the first Distillation or Plegm, then [Seele?] the Receiver & the rest that comes [out] will be a double distilled Rose Water, with the essential Oil or [Otta?] so each in India which you will seperately turning the Reciever & the Water will come out first, & the
