Miss Marion Anderson, c/o Etude Magazine,

Dear Miss Anderson:

Recently I was privileged to enter the competition for the commemorative mural in your honor to be hung in the Interior Building in Washington. It was an even greater honor to be the runner-up in the contest. How I wish I had won! It would be a still greater honor to know that you had seen the painting.

I regret that I have only this small photograph to send you but the reproduction from the Pittsburgh Sun that I send you is a little larger. I am also sending you a clipping from the Christian Science Monitor.

The painting is now hanging in the Directions in American Painting in Carnegie Institute at Pittsburgh, Pa. I hope you will be able to see it.

Very sincerely yours, [handwritten signature] Jac T Bowen
