Where worms now rot o'er this sacred shrine,
Erewhile in Corinth's pride it stood confest--
How soon the splendid traits of art decline,
This kind Memento does to us attest!----[40]

Here when their loves a mutual ardor own'd,
Oft has some youth with transport led the fair
Whose blushing charms shed ray of sweetness round,
On him, the happy object of her care.

While each congenial heart affirm'd its' choice,
Here, their soft hands the sacred union knew.
How gentle her assenting, lisping voice,
To his responsive, as to Heav'n it flew!

The hol;y rite performe, her maids the bride
Attended, to return with aspect sheen------[50]
Thus, as we ruminate, our lovely guide,
Creative Fancy, still prolongs the scene.----
