The Father and the Mother pray'd
And praised that God! who all had given.

[Mead?] Farm Wales, June 1802

Lines for her brother Hugh, who asked her
to write a Holiday task for him

Oh lovely Peace! thy gentle reign
Friendly to art, to science dear,
The praise of Nations shall obtain,
And gain from all the vow sincere.

My youthful breast, that bliss may share,
And take in Others joys a part;
My untaught Muse that joy declare,
The tribute of a feeling heart.

Fair Spring shall show the way with flow'rs,
And point when distant plenty smiles,
