On seeing her Fathers [?] at [Pidford?] July 18th 1802

Oh shade of Him whose fond paternal Care,
In happier times I was so blest as share.
Whose generous Confidence did once imprest,
All that could soothe and elevate the heart.
While Friendships Converse, social and refined,
With new Ideas stand my Infant mind.
And while my breast with love and reverence glow'd,
Lessons of truth, and tenderness bestow'd.
Accept all now alas! there canst receive,
And all thy mourning Daughter has to give,
The melancholy hour, thy thought endears,
The memory of thy Virtues... and her tears
