And leaves the narrow World behind,
Astonish'd at her native height.
Thoughts even as Pluto's pure, sublime,
Such scenes as these have power to raise,
On Views beyond all Space, all time
The Mental Eye shall dare to gaze.
While thus with Inspiration fraught,
The Memory of the past we share,
All human Ills shall seem as naught,
And fruitless every human care.
But this... through lifes much chequer'd scene,
Contented hand in hand to tread,
And at the last calm and serene,
To mingle with the silent dead.
