Tuesday. Oct'r [October] 29. We We left [[Calais]]
in a Packet Boat for [[Dover]] ab't [about] 3 OClock
having just dined - Ab't [About] 4 Oclock
next morning arrived at [[Dover]] -
after a stormy rough Pa rainey & disagreeable
Passage of 13 hours - We landed soon
after & went on shore - glad once more
to have our feet on english ground

Wednesd. [Wednesday] Oct'r [October] 30th - Refresh'd [Refreshed] ourselves
this morning with a few hour's sleep. -
got our things from the Custom House - dined &
sat out for [[London]] - slept this Night at
[[Canterbury]] distant miles from Dov'r [[Dover]] - &
miles from [[London]].

Thursday. Oct'r [October] 31. view'd [viewed] the Cathedral of
[[Canterbury]] this morning - a fine old
Gothic Building - aft'r [after] Breakfast sat
out for London [[London]] w'ch [which] we reach'd [reached] in the Evening
aft'r [after] an Absence on my part of 3 y'rs [years] & some few days -
thankful to Heaven once more to get into a
Circle of friends and acquaintances -

Hyphenation: Preserve hyphens (including "-" characters) at the ends of lines. If a word continues on a new line, preserve the hyphen and then follow the line breaks rule by hitting return once to indicate a new line and continue transcribing the hyphenated word.
Italics: Used for italicized text. This text is italicized This text is italicized.
Line Breaks: Hit return once after each line ends. Two returns indicate a new paragraph, which is usually indentation following the preceding sentence in the original. The times at the end of each entry should get their own paragraph, since the software does not support indentation in the transcriptions.
Punctuation: Add modern periods, but don't add punctuation like commas and apostrophes.
Superscript: Used for superscript text. xls xl^s
Subscript: Used for subscript text. xls xl_s
Symbols: For apothecary and alchemical symbols, use these symbols followed by the meaning of the symbol in brackets: Rx [recipe]; ℈ [scruple]; ʒ [dram]; ʒs [half dram]; ℥ [ounce]; ℥s [half ounce]; ℔ [pound].
