get out, he turned the horses into the side of the bluff and the tongue struck the earth with such force that it strew Mr. C. & Lewis out - but Mc jumped up and caught the horses and we scrambled out. Sunday Afternoon

What a sense of comfort one feels on such a day as this, sitting by a good warm fire in a comfortable house for it is a fearful day outside -- only one thing is wanting to make comfort complete and that is your presence.

What a sense of complete rest to have you by my side and the storm too bad for you to go out in or for others to come in and rob me of your company. Isn't that perfect selfishness? Yet I have felt it many times.

This morning when I first waked up, I heard that wind blowing and wondered if it was snowing but when May got up I learned it was and it has kept up a furious

gale from the south east ever since, but I think the wind has changed to the north east, and the great high drifts of snow are changing now. I am thankful it commenced in the night, for no one will be out in it, but it is not so bad as many blizzards we have had. I hope people have wood enough to keep them warm.

I intended to have this letter sent out last night, but Roy forgot it when he went to town, and you will be disappointed, not to get a letter monday night but you will find out that my intentions were good --

I have thought of you many times today and wondered how you got along with out a fire in your room.

I hope this storm will stop soon.

Monday morn

This storm may hinder our going to Pierre, yet the train came down from Yankton but a bit later than usual, so they may get cleaned up pretty soon.

Evening

Train comes twenty minutes earlier so I must send this down earlier.

The wind stopped blowing this morning, and it has been a fine day for shoveling.

I have not seen the snow so drifted around here in a number of years.

I got your letter today. Am sorry you are sick. Hope you are better now. I will cure you up when I get there.

I do hope the republicans will elect the senator they ought to do that even if they take some one whom they do not like so well_ so he practices republican principles.
