Sir: - [???] myself an appli-
cant for employment under your office for surveys I yet re-
spectfully and heartily recommend to your favorable consid-
eration Hon. Horace J. Austin of Vermillion Clay Co. Dakota,
as a competent, active, honest and faithful surveyor
who has been often employed by myself and others, and has
always performed his work well in every respect. He would
if employed certainly exceed his duty in the best manner.
