Description: Saunders' New and Complete Instructor for the Violin offers an alternative to the European model of learning to play the violin, taking the best aspects of the European model and the latter Achievement model of instruction. Rather than the "dry, hard, exercises" found in most European violin instruction books, Saunders' text contains "pleasing airs arranged in progressive lessons." The exercises are intended for complete beginners, rather than Spohr's instruction book, which is "altogether too difficult for new beginners."
