Dear Editor:—

As you are already aware, an amendment, granting the franchise to the women of South Dakota, is to come before the voters at our next election, in November, 1918. The question as submitted by our Legislature before the nation had declared war on Germany. Our nation now needs and is calling for the services of all of her people. In view of this fact, our women are straining every nerve and energy to do the war work, which is their part in this great fight for democracy. It is go ing to be a difficult task to carry on such a campaign as will insure victory, and at the same time, not decrease the efficiency of our women in war work.

Under the circumstance Any plan for success that we might devise, must have as its foundation the press of the state, based on the splendid assistance given to our cause during the last campaign. We do feel very grateful for this splendid support and write at this time, assuring you that we need it again and hope to have it. Relying upon the interest and help extended by the friendly papers of the state, we are subscribing for the Woman Citizen for each hoping that through this agency we may keep them interested in the progress of suffrage. We hope that you will also accept this as a means of exchange with our headquarters office here, and we will appreciate it very much.

Sincerely

Mrs. John L. Pyle
