My Dear Mrs. Pyle:

Well, we had our meeting, really
funny in many ways, I am so new at this public
work, but the check you received yesterday was
one of the direct results; I feel confident that
we will be able to raise out allotment, the
Woman's Committee have undertaken to handle the
financial end of the work.

I had my first experience in
soliciting when Mrs. Ghrist way here and thoroughly
enjoyed, I know our citizens as I have never known
them before -- where I expected the worst we found the
best, the one/s that have been loudest in their support
of the woman movement with their tongues are the slowest
in opening their pocketbooks -- of course that is human
nature -- I also learned this in soliciting that the
explanation of Amendment E., is of more value to the cause
than the money raised. I believe that if we can get our
women awake and talking intelligently on this amendment that
we will win. If Woman Suffrage is defeated this yeat it
will be through indifference and lack of understanding rather
than active opposition. Our men are thinking as never
before and changing base, they are ours if we go after them.

If you will send me about twenty-five copies of
"Analysis of the Citizenship Amendment " and "To Avoid
Misunderstanding," I will get them to my Township Chairmen
and attempt to arrouee them to action.

Mrs. Ghrist did us lots of good, she is so fine,
tactful and keen— an ideal woman to do public work, we
